Carlos Alcaraz has reached back-to-back China Open semi-finals after his quarter-final win over Karen Khachanov.

Second seed Alcaraz beat seventh seed Khachanov 7-5, 6-2 in Beijing to set up an exciting China Open semi-final clash with Daniil Medvedev.

Alcaraz praised the China Open fans upon his arrival at the event, with the Spaniard kicking things off with a round of 32 win over Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.

The 21-year-old then overcame Tallon Griekspoor in the round of 16, with Alcaraz delighted with his 200th ATP Tour win.

The Spaniard then needed 96 minutes to make it past Khachanov, with his win taking him above Alexander Zverev into second in the ATP Live Race To Turin.

Carlos Alcaraz happy to show his aggressive side at the China Open

He trails only Jannik Sinner in the standings, having already qualified for the ATP Finals, which take place in November.

As per the ATP Tour website, the world number three has now analysed his latest China Open win, with Alcaraz saying: “I always try to be aggressive, hitting strong shots, and I feel like I’m not afraid to show that.

“To try again and again. That’s what I’m feeling right now. In the past matches, everything went well, so I can’t complain at all. I know that I have to keep trying.

“I’m hitting the ball really well, I’m moving well, and I’m not letting my opponents show their best tennis. It’s like the match is in my style. That’s what I like and what I want in every match.”

Can Carlos Alcaraz go all the way at the China Open?

Alcaraz will be delighted with the straightforward manner of his latest victory, although it wasn’t always smooth sailing.

Khachanov certainly challenged the Spaniard at points, but in the end it was another ruthless display from the four-time Grand Slam champion.

Alcaraz may, however, be somewhat apprehensive ahead of his meeting with Medvedev, having fallen at the semi-final stage of the 2023 China Open.

Moreover, the Russian has recent history of shining at the tournament, having lost last year’s final to Sinner.

Alcaraz will definitely need to be aggressive from the start against Medvedev, while he will also need to put their recent Laver Cup memories behind, with the duo having been on the winning team in Berlin earlier this month.
