Carlos Alcaraz has been part of some classic matches already in his young career.

Alcaraz has not played many standout matches at the US Open this year, as he has eased to the semifinals without dropping a single set.

This includes his latest victory over Jiri Lehecka, who was left with no answers to Alcaraz after being beaten, 6-4 6-2 6-4.

That has set up a blockbuster match with Novak Djokovic, who has provided a fitness update ahead of his semifinal with Alcaraz.

While it is unclear as to whether that match will fulfil its potential, Alcaraz has now revealed his favorite matches so far this year.

In an interview with the Tennis Channel, Alcaraz was asked to rank his top five matches from a select few pictures.

In fifth place was Alcaraz’s victory over Alex de Minaur in the Rotterdam final, before putting his win over Arthur Fils in the Monte Carlo Masters quarterfinal in fourth.

As it got to the podium places, Alcaraz chose three of his matches during a very successful clay court season for him earlier this year.

This began with his win over Jack Draper in Rome, before remaining in the Italian capital for his final victory over Jannik Sinner.

“Match against Draper was great tennis from the beginning until the last point,” said Alcaraz. “I think that was one of my best matches, so I would pick that for the third one.

“Then Jannik Sinner final in Rome, because I just played great tactically from the beginning until the end of the match. Not ups and downs, just maintain my good level throughout the whole match so that’s why I would pick the second one.”

As Alcaraz went to choosing his favorite match of the season so far, he did not even hesitate to pick his Roland Garros final win over Sinner.

It was this match, where Alcaraz saved three championship points to beat Sinner from two sets to love down.

This match between Alcaraz and Sinner was called one of the greatest of all time, and it appears that the Spaniard agrees.

“Then obviously, Roland Garros final against Jannik Sinner,” continued Alcaraz. “What can I say about that match, it was unbelievable from both.

“The way that I came back from two sets to love, it was the first match that I did that comeback. Two (three) match points down, but mostly in general was the level. Part of I just came back or not, it was the level we played since the last one was unbelievable. So, I would pick that one to go first.”

How many matches has Carlos Alcaraz lost in 2025?

Alcaraz has so many great matches to choose from this season, especially as he has hardly lost in recent months.

Following his quarterfinal victory at the US Open over Lehecka, Alcaraz has now won 35 of his last 36 matches.

The only loss he has suffered in that time came when Sinner beat Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final, which was the first Grand Slam championship match he had ever lost.

That is the only one of Alcaraz’s six losses he has suffered in the second half of the 2025 season, with all five of his other defeats coming in the first part of the year.

One of those losses came against the player he has just beaten, with Lehecka winning his match with Alcaraz in Doha.

Only two of Alcaraz’s six losses this year have come against top 10 players, with his lowest ranked defeat coming when he was beaten by David Goffin at the Miami Open.

The other top 10 player to beat Alcaraz this year is Djokovic in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.

Alcaraz will be looking to get revenge over Djokovic from that match when they play in the US Open semifinals on Friday, September 5.
