Carlos Alcaraz is not to be messed with this year, with the Spaniard posting 18 wins and just five losses in 2024.

The 21-year-old has certainly brought his A-game to Roland Garros, having clinched a last-four spot at the 2024 French Open.

It has been a ruthless showing in Paris so far, with Alcaraz brushing aside the likes of Felix Auger Aliassime and Sebastian Korda.

His latest encounter against Stefanos Tsitsipas was expected to be his most difficult of the competition, but the Spaniard made light work of the Greek.

In just over two hours, the third seed brushed past the ninth seed 6-3, 7-6(3), 6-4, moving into the semi-finals for the second consecutive year.

Carlos Alcaraz really wants to beat Jannik Sinner

And it is the second year running that Alcaraz has dismissed Tsitsipas at that stage of the competition, with the former having now won all six of his career meetings with the latter.

But all focus must now move onto Jannik Sinner, with the Spanish star excited to meet the newly-crowned number one in the semi-finals.

“I am glad to have him on the tour, I am glad to have him at this level, because thanks to him, I push myself to be better, to be a better player, to give my 100% every day, to wake up in the morning to want to improve my game, to want to beat him,” said Alcaraz, as quoted by The Tennis Podcast.

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz set for mouthwatering clash

Both Sinner and Alcaraz really are at the top of their respective games, with Daniil Medvedev naming the duo when offering a prediction as to who might win this year’s French Open.

The Italian moved into the last four at Roland Garros with a straightforward win over Grigor Dimitrov, coming out on top in straight sets.

He looks very hard to beat on the clay surface in Paris, and is certain to be full of confidence after taking the top spot in the world rankings.

More confidence will come from a superb milestone achieved earlier in the competition, with Sinner becoming just the third male player behind Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic to win his first 10 Grand Slam matches of the season before his 23rd birthday.

Alcaraz clearly has a lot of respect for the Italian, but any sentiment will be put to one side when they meet on court Philippe-Chatrier.
