Carlos Alcaraz has sent an instant message to Jannik Sinner following the conclusion of their historic French Open final.

It was always going to be a thriller, but few likely expected the top two players in the world to put on a show that will be regarded as one of the best in Grand Slam final history.

Their rallies were legendary, and the ending was as dramatic as the rest of the match deserved.

The future of tennis is certainly safe in their hands.

And, what makes things even more heartwarming is that they clearly boast so much respect for one another, exhibited in the Spaniard’s kind words.

Carlos Alcaraz sends immediate message to Jannik Sinner

Delivering his post-match interview on-court, Alcaraz was keen to direct attention back to his generational rival despite having lifted the trophy himself.

And, in speaking to the Philippe Chatrier crowd, he issued a prediction for Sinner, stating: ‘I always want to start with Jannik. It is amazing the level that you have. Congratulations on an amazing two-week tournament, to you and your team.

‘I know the hard work you put in every day. It is huge. Honestly, I know how hard you are chasing this tournament and every tournament.

‘I am pretty sure that you are going to be champion not once but many, many times. It is a privilege to share the court with you in every tournament, making history with you.

‘I am just really happy to be able to make history with you in this tournament and in other tournaments. You are a huge inspiration for the young kids, for everyone, I have to say thank you to you for being such a great inspiration and good luck for the rest of what is coming.’

Jannik Sinner spoke about Alcaraz after the final too, and was similarly glowing to reemphasise their mutual respect.

Carlos Alcaraz wins his second French Open title

In beating Sinner today, Alcaraz has now retained his Roland Garros title, making it two triumphs in the French capital.

That brings his total Grand Slam tally up to five now, whilst also somehow maintaining his 100% record in major finals. Meanwhile, the Italian has lost his own version of that same record.

Already, at 22 years old, this youngster is rewriting history like few others ever have before.

Many have questioned the mentality of Alcaraz and whether he boasts the correct mentality to write his name into tennis history. After all, the release of his Netflix documentary told the story of a young man trying to balance his pursuit of greatness with enjoying his life.

But, having showcased spirit like never before to come from two sets to love down today, nobody can ever question his mentality ever again.
