Carlos Alcaraz continues to impress in Paris as he extends his French Open winning run.

The world number two traveled to Roland Garros high on confidence, having won two clay ATP Masters 1000 titles in 2025.

Carrying that momentum through to the French capital, Alcaraz won his opening match, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 against Italy’s Giulio Zeppieri.

Building on that performance, Alcaraz took down Hungary’s Fabian Marozsan in round two, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.

After the match, Alcaraz was asked for his thoughts on Jack Draper, who has been mightily impressive in 2025.

Carlos Alcaraz says ‘really dangerous’ Jack Draper deserves to be at the top

Speaking to TNT Sports after his win over Marozsan, Alcaraz gave his verdict on the British number one.

“He is a really nice person off the court,” he said.

“Everybody saw what he is capable of doing on the court. He is a great player.

“After this tournament, he is going to reach the best ranking of his career, number four. I am really happy about it. I have never had doubts about him. I expect that he is going to be where he deserves to be, and he deserves to be at the top, so I’m really happy with everything he is doing.

“He is a really dangerous player, I faced him a few times already. It’s great to see him at the top.”

Alcaraz leads the head-to-head with Draper, 4-2, but the pair are unlikely to face off for a seventh time in Paris unless both players reach the final.

Draper will return to action to take on home favorite Gael Monfils in the second round on Thursday, May 29.

Understandably delighted to have reached the third round, Alcaraz assessed his level during his win over Marozsan.

“I’m really happy. I think I am playing a high level of tennis. I started the match pretty well, which I was really focused on before every match, then the second set he started to play better and better,” he said.

“The first game, he broke my serve, and I think that pushed him a bit to play better.

“But really happy to reset my mind and forget everything that happened in the second set, and started in the third set really well.

“I tried to take my chances, and after that, keep it going. I am really happy to have played really good tennis.”

The 22-year-old was then asked where he believes he can still improve.

“I am feeling really comfortable right now. Moving, hitting shots, everything I have done I am really pleased about but I always say that I can be better in everything,” said Alcaraz.

“Everything can improve, even though I’m happy. The day off or the day I am going to practice helps me a lot to improve the things that I want to and just be better.”

Tim Henman says Carlos Alcaraz was ‘impressive’ during win over Fabian Marozsan

Former world number four Tim Henman was impressed with Alcaraz’s second-round performance as he took a closer look at the stats from his win over Marozsan.

Stats from Carlos Alcaraz and Fabian Marozsan’s French Open match

“[Carlos] Alcaraz is in front in all those stats. 71% first serves in is very good, anything above 70% you are going to be very happy with. 41 winners compared to just 25 unforced errors, that is a positive ratio,” he said.

“Add that up, and he’s winning 37 more points than his opponent. So, a good performance.

“It wasn’t all plain sailing to drop that second set. But I thought Alcaraz was impressive in the third and the fourth when he really upped his intensity and cut out a few unforced errors.”

Henman was also keen to praise the Hungarian, who played his part in an engaging second-round match.

“I think [Fabian] Marozsan deserved a lot of credit for the way he dug in in the second set, but Alcaraz, I’m sure, was very happy to come through in four sets,” he said.

Marozsan will now rest up ahead of the grass court season, where he is scheduled to play qualifiers at the Halle Open, while Alcaraz prepares for his third-round clash with Damir Dzumhur on Friday, May 30.
