Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner’s French Open final will go down in history as one of the great clay-court matches.
Trailing by two sets to love against the world number one, facing three championship points, it looked like all hope was lost for Alcaraz in the Roland Garros final.
Fortunately for the Spaniard, giving up just isn’t in his DNA, as he battled back to produce arguably the greatest comeback in French Open history.
In a deciding-set tiebreak, Alcaraz defeated Sinner 4-6, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 7-6, to win his fifth Major, defending his Roland Garros title in the process.

After the match, Alcaraz gave his verdict on his rivalry with Sinner, explaining why he wants to play him in another Grand Slam final soon.
Carlos Alcaraz says he and Jannik Sinner ‘raise their games to the top’ when they play each other
During his post-match press conference, the ATP Tour’s number two-ranked player shared his thoughts on his Italian rival.
“Every match that I am playing against him is important, honestly,” said Alcaraz.
“This is the first match in a Grand Slam final. But hopefully not the last time because every time that we face against each other, we raise our level to the top.
“I think for the people and for the fans it’s important as well to have our matches, and if you want to win Grand Slams, you have to beat the best tennis players in the world.”
Alcaraz then predicted whether his latest win over Sinner would prove to be a ‘turning point’ in their rivalry.
“I think it feels much better when you face them in the final. So it’s not going to be a turning point,” he said.

“I am sure he is going to learn from this match and come back stronger the next time we are going to face against each other.
“I am pretty sure he is going to do his homework. I am going to try and learn from this match as well, how I can be better and how I can tactically do damage to his game.”
Looking ahead to the future, Alcaraz reiterated his belief that he will eventually lose to Sinner.
“I repeat I am not going to beat him forever,” he said.
“That’s obvious. So I have to keep learning from the matches against him and hopefully play more Grand Slam finals.”
Alcaraz’s win over Sinner in the 2025 French Open final was his fifth in a row, extending his head-to-head lead to 8-4.

The Spaniard is aware that his winning run could come to an end soon, but will certainly want to avoid defeat should he face off against Sinner at Wimbledon next month.
Could Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner play each other in the 2025 Wimbledon final?
Just as they did in Paris, Sinner and Alcaraz will head to Wimbledon as the top two seeds.
Therefore, a second consecutive Grand Slam final between the pair could be on the cards, should they fend off the competition at the All England Club.
The Spaniard will travel to London in 2025 as a two-time defending champion, looking to add a third Wimbledon title to his collection.

Sinner, on the other hand, has yet to reach a Wimbledon final, enjoying his best run at the tournament in 2023, when he reached the semi-finals.
With that being said, you’d probably back Alcaraz to come away with the win if they did play, although history may tell us otherwise.
In their one previous meeting on the grass, it was Alcaraz who emerged victorious, winning their fourth-round clash in 2022.
Only time will tell if we will see the world’s top two players face off in another Grand Slam final when tennis takes the trip to Wimbledon, but it will certainly be something to look out for.
The 2025 Wimbledon tournament is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 30.
