Carlos Alcaraz has battled his way into the third round of Wimbledon, with the Spaniard perhaps the man to beat at the tournament.

But he now faces his toughest test yet, with the world number three set to take on world number 29 Frances Tiafoe.

The duo will come face to face in the third round of Wimbledon, with Alcaraz on a drive to successfully defend his title.

He has made it past Mark Lajal and Aleksandar Vukic in rounds one and two respectively, winning both in straight sets.

Tiafoe meanwhile overcame Matteo Arnaldi and Borna Coric, beating the former in five sets and the latter in three.

He will now be preparing for a revenge clash with Alcaraz, having lost to the youngster in the semi-finals of the 2022 US Open, with the Spanish ace going on to win the tournament.

Alcaraz has now spoken highly of the American ahead of their meeting, with the Spaniard impressed by Tiafoe both on and off the court.

“Frances is a great player and person as well,” Alcaraz said in his second round press conference. “He always smiles and seems like he is enjoying his time on the court and off the court. It’s pretty impressive.

“It’s going to be a really fun match to play and to watch. I will try and put my good weapons on the match and to beat him.”

Can Frances Tiafoe shock Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon?

Tiafoe isn’t the only player enjoying himself on the court, with Hollywood icon Steve Carell noticing that Alcaraz enjoys it when he loses a great point.

It is all set to be a thrilling encounter between the two stars at SW19, with Alcaraz undoubtedly the favourite.

The Spaniard just lifted the French Open trophy, and is the Wimbledon defending champion after his 2023 win over Novak Djokovic.

It is, however, one win apiece when it comes to the head-to-head record between Alcaraz and Tiafoe, which should give the latter plenty of confidence.

Moreover, he has been doing his best to get inside the head of his opponent, suggesting that Jessica Pegula is a better ball striker than Alcaraz and Djokovic.
