Carlos Alcaraz is through to another semi-final at an ATP Masters 1000 event after beating Arthur Fils in Monte Carlo.
The Spaniard made hard work of beating the French performer, and in fairness, he probably should have been sent packing by the world number 15.
Alcaraz, however, doesn’t know when he’s beaten, and in that sense, he’s developed certain traits more symbolic of another Spaniard in Rafael Nadal.
Alcaraz praised Fils after the game and alluded to some mistakes which the youngster made that allowed him an opportunity to take the match.
The 21-year-old is cut from a different cloth, and the four-time Grand Slam champion has now equalled a record that was held solely by Jannik Sinner.

Carlos Alcaraz equals Jannik Sinner record after beating Arthur Fils
Sinner might be banned at the moment but today he’s going to be indirectly in the spotlight after Alcaraz equaled a record that had been held by the Italian.
Now, the world number three has joined Sinner in a list of players born since 2000 to have made 10 ATP Masters 1000 semi-finals.
The two players who shared last year’s Grand Slam titles are well ahead at the top of this particular list, with Holger Rune in second on six semi-finals.
It serves to highlight that Sinner and Alcaraz are going to enjoy an intense rivalry for years to come and given their different styles, the matchup looks fascinating.
Carlos Alcaraz joins elite group of players after win over Arthur Fils
In reaching another ATP Masters 1000 last four, Alcaraz has joined seven other players to have reached 10 semi-finals in less than 30 appearances.
Alcaraz is considered the game’s dominant force on clay and he will be looking to taste victory again at Roland Garros next month.
This performance showed a lot of heart from Alcaraz’s perspective and clearly, winning in Monte Carlo means a lot to him right now.
Sinner will hope to return with a vengeance at the French Open but with Alcaraz reaching his clay-court peak just nicely, he’s going to take some serious stopping in Paris.
