Carlos Alcaraz issued a fitness update ahead of his second doubles match with Rafael Nadal at the Olympic Games.
The 21-year-old is playing both singles and doubles in Paris, something which he is not used to, especially in a tournament of this magnitude.
Alcaraz has made a promising start to his debut Olympics and is in a good position to claim medals in both competitions.
But after reaching the third round in singles the Spaniard discussed something he hopes will not derail his chance of success in the French capital.
What has Carlos Alcaraz said about his fitness?
Alcaraz defeated the Netherlands’ Tallon Griekspoor to reach the third round at the Paris Olympic Games. After a convincing first set, Alcaraz saved set point before completing a 6-1, 7-6(3) victory to advance.
Before Alcaraz served to stay in set two however, he left the court to receive treatment on his adductor, before returning to win the match.
Post-match, Alcaraz spoke of the discomfort he felt but confirmed he will be fit for his next doubles match alongside Nadal.
“It’s kind of normal this pain. I felt it before, I’ve been dealing with this problem before… in my adductor,” Alcaraz said. “I know how to deal with this pain. I think it’s not going to be serious so I’m going to be ready for doubles.”

Who will Carlos Alcaraz play next?
Alcaraz will once again face Griekspoor at the Olympics, but this time in the doubles competition.
The four-time Grand Slam winner and Nadal will face the Dutch pair of Griekspoor and Wesley Koolhof in round two on Tuesday.
They defeated the Hungarian pair of Márton Fucsovics and Fábián Marozsán to book a match against the mighty Spanish duo.
Nadal and Alcaraz opened their doubles campaign by beating Argentina’s Andres Molteni and Maximo Gonzalez 7-6(4), 6-4.
