Carlos Alcaraz is into yet another final on the ATP Tour after battling past Alexander Zverev at the Cincinnati Open.

ATP number two Alcaraz has now reached a seventh consecutive final, having defeated Zverev 6-4, 6-3 in Cincinnati.

And the Spaniard now faces another reunion with world number one Jannik Sinner, who defeated Terence Atmane 7-6(7-4), 6-2 to reach the Cincinnati Open final.

Alcaraz has a superb ATP Masters 1000 win percentage, which he will be hoping to further improve upon when he takes on Sinner.

The pair have remarkably already met in the finals of the Italian Open, French Open and Wimbledon this season.

Ahead of another final, however, Alcaraz made sure to spend some time consoling Zverev, who was struggling in their semifinal clash.

He said on court afterwards: “It’s never easy playing against someone that you know is not feeling 100 per cent.

“It’s even tougher when it comes from Sascha, such a great player, such a great person off the court. We have a really good relationship.

“We started the match really good, playing good rallies, a good level of tennis. But then all of a sudden he started to feel bad.

“And then my focus, I was thinking about how he’s feeling, besides focusing on myself and playing good tennis. It was a really difficult situation for me and I just wish him all the best.”

Alcaraz and Zverev have battled it out for the world number two ranking for some time now, with the former currently boasting the bragging rights.

They do, however, share those rights when it comes to their thrilling head-to-head record, which now sits at 6-6.

There were indeed further nice words from the latest victor after another meeting, with Alcaraz honouring Zverev immediately after knocking him out.

The Spanish star wrote on the camera in Cincinnati: “Happy for the final but feeling bad for Sascha. Wish you all the best.”

But his focus will quickly turn to Sinner, who Alcaraz beat five times in a row before losing their Wimbledon final last month.

He does, however, still hold an 8-5 win-loss record over the Italian, but such history is set to go out the window when they reunite on the court on Monday.
