Carlos Alcaraz’s 2025 season was sensational, and he will hope to mimic that triumph now that the new campaign is underway.
However, having split with Juan Carlos Ferrero, there is great uncertainty surrounding the superstar Spaniard.
Many are curious to see how he performs without his long-time mentor by his side, with some tipping him to struggle in 2026.
Alas, he remains hugely positive, particularly when reflecting on his most recent season and all that he achieved.
Carlos Alcaraz rates his 2025 season
Speaking to Andrea Petkovic on the Tennis Channel’s Big T Podcast, she sought to rate Carlos Alcaraz’s 2025 campaign by using Boris Becker’s words.
He had argued that it had been the best of his career to date, and asked if he disagreed, he replied: “No, no, no, not this time.”
How would you feel if Juan Carlos Ferrero returned to coach Carlos Alcaraz now?
Alcaraz continued: “No, but I mean, he’s right. I think this season, I’ve been playing really good tennis. Really, really consistent.
“So it was something that I was really looking for, you know, to do in a season, to play really good tennis in so many tournaments in a row that I did this year, from the clay season to the end of the season. I think it’s been the best season I have ever played.”
Then speaking about how it feels to be back on top, he added: “You really want what you don’t have. So sometimes I don’t want to be recognised. So I really want to, you know, walk around by myself and do whatever the normal person does, but, you know, at the same time, it’s really good, my position. So I cannot complain at all.
“I really love what I do. I really love where I have the people [praise] me, [saying that I give a] really good experience for the kids, for themselves, it is an amazing, amazing feeling.

“We’re trying to help tennis as much as we can, I think, with Jannik and me, the matches we have played in the tournaments we have played.
“I think it engaged the people who probably have never watched tennis before.”
Carlos Alcaraz’s 2025 season in numbers
Whilst all the focus is now on whether the six-time Grand Slam champion can translate his sensational form into the new season, without Ferrero by his side, it’s worth remembering just how impressive his 2025 campaign actually was.
After all, Alcaraz finished the year as the winner of two Grand Slam titles, having reached the final of another.
He also made it to the final of the ATP Finals, where he was beaten by an inspired Jannik Sinner.
Carlos Alcaraz would be the greatest youngster ever if he won the 2026 Australian Open – change my mind…
On top of this, the 22-year-old won three more Masters 1000 titles, enjoying a spell between April and July where he claimed 24 successive victories, the longest win streak of his career.
This culminated in Alcaraz claiming the year-end world number one spot from Sinner for just the second time in his career.
Alcaraz’s earnings for the 2025 season were similarly stunning too.
