Carlos Alcaraz and Ben Shelton both sent Madison Keys messages of support after she won the Australian Open title.

The American played arguably the best match of her career to defeat Aryna Sabakenka to lift the title at Melbourne Park.

This is the first time that the 29-year-old has won a major and she did by beating the Belarusian 6-3, 2-6, 7-5.

In the process Keys ended Sabalenka’s 20-match win streak in Melbourne and denied her the chance to become the first woman to win the Australian Open three times in a row in 26 years.

How did Carlos Alcaraz and Ben Shelton do at the 2025 Australian Open?

Alcaraz and Shelton both were unable to claim Australian Open glory in 2025.

The Spaniard entered the tournament as the third seed and equalled his best run at the event by reaching the quarter-finals.

However, Alcaraz met his match in Novak Djokovic, who overcame a leg problem to defeat him in four pulsating sets.

Shelton on the other hand, recorded his best run at the Australian Open after advancing to the semi-finals.

This was his second time reaching the last four at a major, but his campaign came to an end courtesy of Jannik Sinner, whose 7-6 6-2, 6-2 win earned him a spot in the final against Alexander Zverev.
