Carlos Alcaraz has continued his remarkable run of form today with a straight-sets victory over American player Tommy Paul.
It means that Alcaraz will be guaranteed the chance to compete for a medal at the Olympics during his maiden tilt.
He came through this afternoon with a 6-3, 7-6 victory and now he will be eying up a chance to reach the gold medal match.
Alcaraz is riding the crest of a wave at the moment and he will hope to repeat his win at Wimbledon by going all the way here.

Carlos Alcaraz shares what impressed him about Tommy Paul
For Paul, it’s been a pretty good summer too in fairness and he showcased that he’s capable of getting into the top 10.
He won Queen’s back in June and followed that up with a run to the quarter-finals at Wimbledon where he again lost to Alcaraz.
After today’s match, Alcaraz was very complimentary about the American star and gave him a glowing reference, citing something that really impressed him about his performance.
He said live on Discovery Plus: “Maybe a little tired from the match yesterday and the doubles with Nadal, of course. But I gave everything.
“I played with as much intensity as I could because he’s such a good athlete, so I had to be on every ball in the second set.
“I got a bit more tired towards the end but just tried to remember that not only am I playing for myself but for my country and gave it my best.”
Alcaraz is going to dominate world tennis
This feels like a foregone conclusion, with the Spaniard just 21-years-old and the man already on a mission to make waves in the game.
Alcaraz is already the youngest man to win a major on all three surfaces and with four majors to his name, the world is his oyster.
Olympic gold would put the seal on a remarkable season and that’s before the US Open and the ATP Tour Finals at the end of the year.
It’s a testament to Alcaraz that after such a wonderful win he found time to congratulate his opponent and praise him on one aspect of his game.
Paul will come again and much like Taylor Fritz, his game is in a good place right now.
For Alcaraz, however, world domination looks to be on the cards and the big question now is just who can stop him?
