Carlos Alcaraz has admitted to having mixed feelings about his Olympic final defeat to Novak Djokovic.
Djokovic tipped Alcaraz to win Olympic gold, with the Spaniard having just won Wimbledon and the French Open.
But Djokovic emerged victorious on the Paris clay, clinching the top prize at the Olympics with a 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-2) win.
Rafael Nadal messaged Alcaraz after the Olympic final loss, with the two Spanish stars having played doubles together in the French capital.
They suffered a quarter-final exit after wowing the home crowd, with Alcaraz then going on to secure individual silver.

Carlos Alcaraz feels sad after what happened against Novak Djokovic
He will have been feeling very confident going into the match, having only just beaten Djokovic at the All England Club.
There, Alcaraz overcame the Serbian in straight sets, but it wasn’t meant to be for the disappointed Spaniard this time around.
“Obviously I have to start saying that I think my level was really high,” Alcaraz said in his final press conference.
“I’m really happy with my performance today. A little bit disappointed about not playing my best tennis in the difficult situations. The tie-breaks for example, he increased his level at the top, and I couldn’t do it.
“So a bit sad about thinking about those moments but I have to see everything in a different way and a different perspective. So I think I did a great tournament and a really great match. I am proud of myself.”
Novak Djokovic wins Olympic gold medal in style
A packed crowd in Paris watched Djokovic play his best match of the year, with the veteran using his experience to get past his much younger opponent.
The Serbian may have had flashbacks from his difficult time at the French Open just two months ago, having been forced to withdraw from the competition with injury.
But a quick recovery from surgery was made, with Djokovic reaching back-to-back finals at Wimbledon and the Olympics.
He was beaten easily by Alcaraz in London, but produced a stunning display in France this time around to secure gold for his nation.
With the win, he becomes the fifth player to win all four majors and Olympic gold, following in the footsteps of Nadal, Serena Williams, Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf.
