Brad Gilbert explains what his relationship is like with Andre Agassi now
Gilbert coached four other players after Agassi, including Coco Gauff, who he guided to US Open glory in 2023.
But there was no other player he coached for as long as Agassi. The 63-year-old coached the former World number one from 1994 to 2002, and during this period Agassi attained most of his success.
23 years removed from their fruitful partnership, the pair are still on good terms and Gilbert expressed how much Agassi still loves tennis.
“We still talk a ton. He is an amazing person. He has had incredible success on the court, off the court, helping people’s lives,” Gilbert told Tennis Channel.
“It’s funny because whenever we talk, if it hasn’t been a month or we text, it almost feels like the extension of when we were together the day before. It just picks up.
“He will be watching a match and want to know something about what we are seeing or going back to one of his matches, or if he’s working with the player he will ask me a million questions.
“He loves to get into deep discussions about the game. He is incredibly passionate and if you talk to him, Andre has photographic memory of every single point. He loves talking about scenarios. He is great to talk to and great to learn from.”
