Boris Becker has offered his verdict on the controversy surrounding Jannik Sinner and his doping case.
The world number one is in strong contention to become the fifth male player to achieve the Cincinnati-US Open double in the same year since 2003.
However, ahead of his quest for glory at Flushing Meadows, Sinner was embroiled in controversy after details were published this week of a doping case involving the Italian.
The case had been ongoing behind the scenes since March, but the 23-year-old seems to have coped well with it, attesting his innocence.

Jannik Sinner escaped a drug ban after twice testing positive for a banned substance – clostebol – in March.
The Italian was cleared by an independent tribunal, who accepted the explanation of contamination through a bare-handed massage by his physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi.
Ahead of his US Open campaign, Sinner confirmed that he had parted ways with Naldi as well as his trainer Umberto Ferrara.

Sinner is one of the red-hot favorites to triumph at Flushing Meadows, despite having his preparations largely disrupted by the controversy surrounding him.
He appears to have taken it all in his stride and will be eager to get off to a good start after seeing how the US Open crowd reacted to his entrance on Thursday.
The top seed is coming into the tournament fresh off the back of winning the Cincinnati title, cementing his status as the best player in the world.
There is no doubt that he will want to add to the back-to-back triumphs at the Australian Open with a new major title.
