Alexander Bublik failed to take his momentum from the Paris Masters into the Moselle Open, where he has suffered a shock early exit.

Bublik reached the semifinals of the Paris Masters earlier this month, falling to eventual runner-up Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Auger-Aliassime praised Bublik after their meeting, with the Canadian then going on to lose in the final to Jannik Sinner.

But Bublik has been sent crashing back down to earth in Metz, losing his very first match 5-7, 6-3, 7-5 to Vitaliy Sachko.

He is currently ranked 13th on the ATP Tour, with his most recent opponent in France ranked down in 222nd.

Boris Becker predicts where Alexander Bublik will be ranked in 2026

Despite the shock result, tennis legend Boris Becker has remained positive about the 28-year-old from Kazakhstan.

Made aware that Bublik won’t finish this season within the ATP top 10, Becker wrote on X: “Still by far his best season and more to come in 2026! Bublik will be in the top 10 next year in my honest opinion.”

Recently rising three spots, Bublik is currently in a career-high rank, and has won four titles this season to take his career tally to eight.

It has been a truly sensational season from Bublik, who has really emerged as one of the most dangerous players on the ATP Tour.

That was evident at the Paris Masters alone, where he knocked out the likes of top 10 duo Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur.

Other noteworthy victories from his 2025 season include the small matter of beating Jannik Sinner en route to his Halle Open title, where he won his final with Daniil Medvedev.

There were, however, some frustrations at Grand Slam level, with his Roland Garros quarterfinal run representing his best finish.

But overall the Kazakhstan star can hold his head very high, with a break into the ATP top 10 certainly possible next season.

He’s proven time and again that he can beat the very best, with only Carlos Alcaraz (8) and Sinner (5) boasting more titles than Bublik at this moment in time.
