Jakub Mensik can now call himself an ATP Masters 1000 champion, having beaten Novak Djokovic in the Miami Open final.
Mensik is the lowest-ranked Miami Open winner, having entered the tournament sitting 54th in the ATP rankings.
World number five Djokovic meanwhile was the fifth seed at the Miami Open, where he lost 7-6(7-4), 7-6(7-4) in his final with Mensik.
Mensik has stunned Nick Kyrgios with his victory, with the former now rising 30 places in the world rankings to 24th.
He also beat other seeded players such as Taylor Fritz and Arthur Fils en route to his first ATP title, along with Indian Wells champion Jack Draper.

And the 19-year-old has now taken to social media to celebrate the achievement, writing on Instagram: “Masters 1000 champion! Living the dream Miami!
The positive messages from the tennis world and beyond have since been rolling in, with his fellow Czech star Barbora Krejcikova writing: “Big congratulations Kubo,” translated from their native language.

World number 93 Luca Nardi meanwhile commented: “Too good,” while Coco Gauff’s former coach Brad Gilbert shared a message of support on X.
“Standing ovation for Mensik, came into the Miami Open with 8-6 record on the year, the 19-year-old gets his 1st ATP Tour trophy taking out Djoker,” wrote Gilbert. “Holy Toledo.”

Mensik now occupies his career-high ranking after his stunning run in Miami, and has a 14-6 win-loss record for 2025 so far.
And that is very likely to improve as the year goes on, with the teenager certain to keep on improving with age and experience.
For now, however, he deserves to enjoy himself and celebrate the victory, which came after just over two hours of action.
The teenager fired down 14 aces and committed just one double fault as he outclassed legendary figure Djokovic.

The duo remarkably couldn’t be at two contrasting periods in their career, with the Serbian currently chasing a 100th ATP title at 37.
Mensik meanwhile has the world at his feet, with the 19-year-old certain to strike fear into many top players in the near future after his latest rise.
