The curtain is falling on the 2025 Australian Open with the men’s singles final set to head the day 15 order of play, as Alexander Zverev and Jannik Sinner fight for glory.
Two weeks of elite tennis have lit up Melbourne Park as Sinner bids to defend his Australian Open title. The ATP Tour world No1 won his first Grand Slam title Down Under a year ago as the Italian saw off Daniil Medvedev in a five-set thriller to claim a 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 win.
A different foe stands in Sinner’s way this year as Zverev strives to win a Grand Slam title for the first time. The ATP world No2 is in a Grand Slam final for the third time. The 27-year-old lost to Dominic Thiem at the 2020 US Open plus to Carlos Alcaraz at the 2024 French Open.

Zverev has also only dropped two sets all tournament to Ugo Humbert and Tommy Paul. He will also be a tad fitter than Sinner after Novak Djokovic withdrew from his Australian Open semi against Zverev having torn a muscle in his upper left leg in the quarters against Alcaraz.
Some Australian Open fans booed Djokovic off the court after losing 7-6 to Zverev in the first set of their semi-final. The ATP world No7 was trying to become an 11-time Australian Open winner in 2025. Sinner could also be the first back-to-back champion since Djokovic in 2021.
