There are still six ATP American players remaining in the Indian Wells draw looking to make history.
American tennis has been succeeding so far in 2025, particularly on the WTA Tour.
Highlighted by Madison Keys winning the Australian Open, American WTA players have taken home half of the available titles this year.
This has enabled them to make history, with Keys one of three top five ranked American’s in the WTA rankings.
While the women are providing the most headlines at the moment, American men are also impressing at Indian Wells so far this year.
Marcos Giron makes American tennis history at Indian Wells
Marcos Giron is one of those players to have impressed at Indian Wells so far, with the American number eight reaching a milestone after his latest win.
Following his victory over 26th seed Alexei Popyrin, Giron has reached the last-16 of an ATP Masters 1000 tournament for the first time in his career.
Giron’s run also includes a second round win over fourth seed Casper Ruud, with the world number 48 making history as a result.
At 31 years and 228 days, Giron is the oldest American man to reach the last-16 of Indian Wells for the first time in their career since 1980.
The last time an older American player than Giron did this was 45 years ago, when 38-year-old Marty Riessen beat Australian Colin Dibley.
Giron will now face another seeded opponent in Frenchman Arthur Fils, as he looks to better Riessen by reaching the quarter-finals.
Tommy Paul reaches milestone after beating Cameron Norrie at Indian Wells
Giron is not the only American who has already reached the last-16 of the ATP Indian Wells draw, with Tommy Paul joining his compatriot.
Paul, who has recently dealt with illness, is a former semi-finalist at Indian Wells and will want to take that even further this year.
After beating former Indian Wells champion Cam Norrie in straight sets, Paul reached a milestone of his own at Masters 1000 tournaments.
This was Paul’s 50th ATP Masters 1000 victory, making him the second active American player to achieve this feat.
Taylor Fritz is the only other current player from the States to reach that mark, with the world number four way out in front on 75 victories.
Paul will now have a day away from the matchcourt, before playing his last-16 match against two-time Indian Wells finalist Daniil Medvedev.
