Look ahead to day five of the 2024 ATP Finals with The Tennis Gazette, as we look at the full order of play and how to watch live as Jannik Sinner faces Daniil Medvedev.

Day five sees the Ilie Nastase Group reach a conclusion with Sinner striving to seal first place and his spot in the semi-finals. The Italian currently heads the table after securing wins over Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur. Meanwhile, after losing to Fritz, Medvedev sits in third spot.

ATP World No5 Fritz took a 6-4, 6-3 win over Medvedev on day one of the 2024 ATP Finals in Turin. But the American could not maintain his start after Sinner beat Fritz 6-4, 6-4 to add to the World No1’s 6-3, 6-4 win over De Minaur, who lost 6-2, 6-4 to No4 Medvedev in Italy.

Sinner is the only player in the Ilie Nastase Group still with a shout of winning the maximum $4,881,500 prize money at the 2024 ATP Finals if he remains undefeated. The prize drops to $2,237,200 if the overall winner loses any games during their time in Turin at the ATP Finals.

Yet the lesser purse is not Fritz, Medvedev and De Minaur’s primary focus on day five of the 2024 ATP Finals. Their one focus on day five is joining Sinner in the semi-finals, with the first two tied with one-one win-loss records. Fritz holds the tie-breaker from their head-to-head.

Sinner can possibly afford to lose to Medvedev in their day five encounter, but would then be relying on Fritz winning a lower percentage of his games won than the Italian. It would take a sizable turnaround for De Minaur to advance after losing both of his opening two matches.

So, with that in mind, The Tennis Gazette takes a look at the full order of play for day five of the 2024 ATP Finals and how fans in America can watch every match from Turin live on TV…

Taylor Fritz vs Alex de Minaur head-to-head record

De Minaur earned a place in Turin after Novak Djokovic withdrew from the ATP Finals due to an injury. The Australian is now facing an immediate exit after first De Minaur lost 6-3, 6-4 to Sinner and also lost 6-2, 6-4 to Medvedev. So, De Minaur sits last in the Ilie Nastase Group.

It is still possible that De Minaur advances into the semi-finals. But the World No9 must beat No5 Fritz in straight sets, hope Sinner also beats Medvedev and see a massive swing in their respective games won percentages. Yet De Minaur has often got the better of Fritz thus far.

The group stage for the 2024 ATP Finals marks the ninth time that De Minaur and Fritz have met. From their previous eight encounters, De Minaur has taken five wins to Fritz’s three in their head-to-head and also won their last two ties plus only two ties on indoor hard courts.
