Aryna Sabalenka is undoubtedly one of the most powerful players on the WTA Tour.
From her serve to her return, the Belarusian is a huge hitter of the ball, which often causes major problems for her opponents.
But she isn’t the only big hitter in women’s tennis, with Sabalenka now offering her take on which of her WTA rivals can keep up in that regard.

Aryna Sabalenka suggests she and Amanda Anisimova are the most powerful WTA players
In an interview with Tennis Channel after she reached the Indian Wells semifinals, she was asked: “What players have you played that have made you feel ‘that’s a different type of ball’ because it was so powerful?”
The world number one responded: “It’s crazy because I feel that against so many girls, as they block my power and use it against me.
“I feel my power but sometimes when you block it it creates even more heaviness on the ball.
“But I feel maybe [Amanda] Anisimova at the US Open.
“That backhand was like woah, that backhand was super heavy and fast and deep and you have to stay super low to be able to put that ball back.”
She was then asked if Anisimova and herself are the most powerful on the WTA Tour, to which she replied: “Yeah”.
Sabalenka and Anisimova met in the final of the 2025 US Open, where the Belarusian defeated the American 6-3, 7-6(7-3).
Aryna Sabalenka will NOT end the year as world number one – prove us wrong!
Aryna Sabalenka’s head-to-head record with Amanda Anisimova
There are many exciting rivalries being played out in tennis right now, including Carlos Alcaraz versus Jannik Sinner on the ATP Tour.
The Spanish superstar also has a very enjoyable rivalry with Novak Djokovic, who he beat to win this year’s Australian Open.
But Sabalenka versus Anisimova is definitely among the best current rivalries, with their raw power and fantastic ability constantly producing high-quality matches.
They’ve met a huge 11 times throughout their careers, and many of their thrilling encounters have gone the distance, along with having taken place in the latter stages of tournaments.
And perhaps surprisingly, it is Anisimova who holds the historical advantage over Sabalenka with a narrow 6-5 record.
The Belarusian does, however, very much have the momentum at this moment in time.
