Aryna Sabalenka is through to the fourth round of the Cincinnati Open, after defeating Emma Raducanu over three sets.
The Briton had her best match against the Belarusian to date, and managed to force a third set, but ultimately the world number one marched on after just over three hours of play, winning 7-6, 4-6, 7-6.
Sabalenka is looking to go back-to-back in Cincinnati, following her triumph in 2024, when she captured the WTA 1000 title for the first time.
She is now one step closer after her bout with Raducanu, during which the defending champion made tennis history after securing a closely contested first set.

Aryna Sabalenka becomes Open Era leader in incredible statistic
Sabalenka drew first blood in the match and took the opening set in a tiebreak, 7-3, which was her 17th victory in a set-decider since the beginning of the 2025 season.
That is the highest tally in an entire calendar year by any woman in women’s singles during the Open Era.
After taking the decisive third set the same way, Sabalenka is now on a streak of 16 consecutive tiebreaks won, having not lost one since the Qatar Open in February.
At the last two Grand Slam events, she has emerged victorious in a total of six, including one in the French Open final against Coco Gauff.
Aryna Sabalenka’s undefeated streak against Emma Raducanu continues
With her triumph, Sabalenka’s undefeated record against Raducanu improves to 3-0, with two of the victories coming this season.
Their first meeting came at Indian Wells in 2024, where, as the second seed, she won in straight sets to advance to the fourth round.
| Match | Score (Winner) |
|---|---|
| 2025 Cincinnati Open Third Round | 7-6, 4-6, 7-6 (Sabalenka) |
| 2025 Wimbledon Third Round | 7-6, 6-4 (Sabalenka) |
| 2024 Indian Wells Open Third Round | 6-3, 7-5 (Sabalenka) |
Recently, the two faced off at the Wimbledon championships, where Raducanu put up a good fight in front of a home crowd, but still couldn’t get over the line.
Though she dropped her first set in the rivalry during their Cincinnati clash, Sabalenka once again came out on top.
