Aryna Sabalenka is now just one win away from defending her US Open title following her semifinal victory over Jessica Pegula.
Sabalenka defeated Pegula after coming back from a set down to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 and advance to the championship match.
The Belarusian has now reached seven Grand Slam finals and three in the 2025 WTA season, though she has yet to add another major to her tally this year.
After triumphing over home hope Pegula, Sabalenka faced the media to discuss the upcoming title bout, which she will enter as the favourite.

When asked in her press conference if she had thought about what she might say following a loss in the final, Sabalenka said: “No, but what happened in Paris definitely is not going to happen here. Never.”
The world number one made several comments after losing the Roland Garros final to Coco Gauff in June, which she has since apologised for.
“I learned that lesson. I will never behave that way. It’s not me.
“I was super emotional, I let it go and let emotions take control over me. It’s not who I am, and it’s never going to happen again.”
She said to win the tournament would feel ‘amazing’, explaining: “I am super excited to give myself another opportunity and another final.
“If I will be able to hold that trophy it’s going to mean a lot to me and I will be the happiest person in the world, probably.”

With her triumph, Sabalenka is now the third woman since 1988 to reach six consecutive finals at hard-court Grand Slams.
She joins Steffi Graf and Martina Hingis as the only players to complete the feat since then.
Her record on the surface at majors is now 38 wins and just two losses, which she suffered in the finals of the 2023 US Open and the 2025 Australian Open.
Sabalenka now has the chance to become the first woman to go back-to-back in New York since Serena Williams in 2014.
