Aryna Sabalenka wishes she had something as a teenager that Mirra Andreeva has after the Indian Wells final.

The 17-year-old has now won her last 12 matches and in the process secured the biggest title of her young career so far.

Andreeva faced the World number one Aryna Sabalenka or the chance to win her second successive WTA 1000 title, and claimed the victory the hard way.

Clearly second best after set one, Andreeva turned things around to secure a 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory after two hours and four minutes.

What does Aryna Sabalenka wish she had that Mirra Andreeva has?

Mirra Andreeva has improved her level over the past two tournaments, of which she has emerged victorious.

The Russian defeated World number two Iga Swiatek and former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina at each of those events, and now she has beaten Sabalenka to triumph at Indian Wells.

Post-match, Sabalenka congratulated Andreeva for her victory and wished that she had someone like Andreeva’s coach Conchita Martinez in her corner when she was a teenager.

“Mirra, congrats on an incredible run. Great tournament and great tennis. Congrats on having a great team,” the Belarusian said during the trophy presentation.

“If I had the same team you had at your age, probably I would be a better player by now! No, don’t look at my team. I have the best team right now, I mean before.

“At your age, I was struggling with finding the right coach but you got it so much earlier that’s why you are doing so well. It’s amazing to see your success. I will meet you next time on the court and probably it’s not going to be your way!”

Who is Mirra Andreeva’s coach Conchita Martinez?

Andreeva is coached by Conchita Martinez, a former professional tennis player.

The Spaniard played from 1988 to 2006 and won 33 titles, one of which was the 1994 Wimbledon Championships.

She became the first Spanish woman to lift the trophy and over 30 years after that famous victory, she aims to guide another player to success at tennis’ highest level.

The 52-year-old beamed with pride when Andreeva became Indian Wells champion, a tournament she was unable to win during her career.

The youngster said that one of her motivating factors for winning the title was for her coach, and the pair shared a warm embrace following the biggest moment of her career so far.
