Aryna Sabalenka has continued to make tennis history after winning her latest match at the Miami Open.

Sabalenka won Indian Wells for the first time just over a week ago, having saved a championship point to beat Elena Rybakina in the final.

The world number one is now bidding to make history, as Sabalenka looks to join the only four women to have completed the sunshine double by winning the Miami Open title.

Although Sabalenka is yet to complete the sunshine double, she has already matched a record held by Serena Williams and Monica Seles after beating Caty McNally in Miami.

Aryna Sabalenka wins her 14th consecutive match in Indian Wells and the Miami Open

Sabalenka beat McNally 6-4, 6-2, to reach the fourth round of the Miami Open for the second consecutive year.

This means that the Belarusian has now won 14 consecutive matches across the sunshine double of Indian Wells and the Miami Open.

Sabalenka has become just the third woman to achieve this feat, joining tennis legends Seles and Williams.

Who are you backing to complete the sunshine double?

Or do you think both Sabalenka and Sinner will win the Miami Open?

Seles achieved this feat in 1991 and 1992, having won titles at the Miami Open (1991) and then Indian Wells (1992), before losing her 15th match against Jennifer Capriati in the 1992 Miami Open quarterfinals.

Williams had a slightly different route to this record, having boycotted Indian Wells for 14 years after being racially abused in 2001.

The American won 18 consecutive matches at the Miami Open between 2002 and 2004, but the only time Williams did this across both tournaments came when she returned to Indian Wells in 2015.

After winning back-to-back Miami Open titles, Williams reached the semifinals of Indian Wells in 2015, before awarding a walkover due to a knee injury.

Williams had won 16 consecutive matches at Indian Wells and the Miami Open up to that point, and it was not until the 2016 Indian Wells final where she actually lost a match on this run at the sunshine double, surmounting a 27 match winning streak in total.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Qinwen Zheng Head-to-Head

Sabalenka will be hoping that unlike Seles, she can keep her winning streak at the sunshine double going beyond 14 matches.

The four-time Grand Slam champion is likely to be feeling confident that she can do just that, with Qinwen Zheng the next opponent of Sabalenka.

Sabalenka and Zheng have played eight times before, with the former leading their head-to-head 7-1.

This includes playing in a Grand Slam final, with Sabalenka beating Zheng to win her second Australian Open title in 2024.
