Arthur Fils is back at Wimbledon for just his third appearance, with his career having been severely hampered by injury.

Fils returned to action in February after eight months out because of a back injury, only for a hip issue to rule him out of the French Open.

He also missed Wimbledon last year because of his back injury, but is eyeing a lengthy stay at the All England Club this time around.

Currently 24th in the ATP rankings, Fils enters the tournament with a fine 22-7 win-loss record for 2026, along with one title.

And the 22-year-old Frenchman has now provided a positive update ahead of his opening match at the grass-court Grand Slam.

Who is the biggest ATP dark horse at Wimbledon this year?

Draper, Tiafoe, Mensik, Jodar, or someone else?

Speaking to the ATP website, Fils said: “Every time I come back, I know that I will always play good tennis.

“So I know that I just need to come back on the court and then I will enjoy myself.

“I really enjoy playing on grass.

“It’s very funny.

“You can jump.

“You can slide.

“It’s very cool – I really enjoy it.

“Let’s see if I’m playing great this week.

“But for now, the practice has been pretty good.

“I’m playing great.

“The body feels good.

“The movement is good.

“So, it’s all good.”

It’s a very welcome update from Fils, who has endured a torrid time with injuries despite his brief career so far.

Despite his various setbacks, he has managed to claim four ATP titles and rise as high as number 14 in the ATP rankings.

Arthur Fils handed nightmare Wimbledon draw

While Fils has only made two appearances at Wimbledon, he should be able to take some confidence from his run to the fourth round in 2024.

He does, however, find himself with a very tricky potential draw this year.

The Frenchman starts out against Raphael Collignon, with a win setting up a second round clash with either Stan Wawrinka or Matteo Berrettini.

Should he emerge victorious, Fils could then face Jakub Mensik and Ben Shelton in the round of 32 and round of 16 respectively.

Alex de Minaur and Alexander Zverev could await in the quarterfinals and semifinals respectively, with a possible final against Jannik Sinner or Novak Djokovic.
