Arthur Fils has been praised and compared to world number one Carlos Alcaraz.
Fils recently made his return to tennis after spending six months on the sidelines due to a back injury.
Prior to suffering the back injury at Roland Garros, Fils had reached his career-high ranking of world number 14.
As Fils now looks to build his way back up towards his previous best, he has been compared to Alcaraz.

Arthur Fils told he has similarities in his game to Carlos Alcaraz
Fils won his first round match at the Qatar Open to set up a second round meeting with his compatriot Quentin Halys.
Ahead of their match in Doha, Halys, who is eight years older than Fils, was full of praise for his fellow Frenchman and revealed that he always knew he was going to be successful.
“Even when they’re young, you can easily spot those who stand out, and Arthur was one of them back then,” said Halys, as reported by L’Equipe.
“He was among the future stars, and he’s confirmed it since. He’s one of those very complete players of the new generation. He serves well, he moves very well, and he has a very, very good forehand.”
Who is going to win the 2026 men’s Qatar Open?
When asked about their previous meetings, Halys highlighted Fils’ all-court game and compared him to Alcaraz.
“He can play extremely well everywhere on all surfaces, but I find his forehand has a lot of spin, it’s quite high, and at the same time he’s able to avoid errors on his backhand,” added Halys.
“If I had to compare his playing style, I’d say he has a bit of Alcaraz’s game. He uses his forehand a lot, and on his backhand he controls well, while also being extremely mobile. In fact, I think modern tennis is all about players who move very well, like Arthur.”
Who will join Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in a new ‘big three’?
Another French player compares himself to Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic
Fils is not the only Frenchman who has been compared to Alcaraz, with 16-year-old Moise Kouame actually comparing himself to the seven-time Grand Slam champion.
Kouame recently made his ATP Tour debut in Montpellier and is predicted to go on and achieve big things in men’s tennis.

In a separate interview with L’Equipe, Kouame was asked about his game being compared to Gael Monfils.
While Kouame did not dismiss the Monfils comparisons, he also claimed that there were traces of Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic in his game.
“There’s a bit of Gael, a bit of Djokovic, a bit of Sinner, a bit of Alcaraz… and above all, there’s a bit of Moise Kouame (smiles),” said Kouame.
“That’s the most important thing. I’m attached to my identity, my own identity. Later, I hope in 10-20 years, young players will be able to say there’s a bit of Kouame in their game. That’s really the identity I want to create over time.”
Kouame has just won his first match on the ATP Challenger Tour, with the French teenager an exciting prospect for the future.
