Andy Roddick has once again been left stunned by the unstoppable exploits of Jannik Sinner.
Now debating whether he is the best player in the world right now, there are few arguments against such a notion, given not only the results he continues to claim but also the manner in which he is acquiring them.
Seemingly nobody can get near him, and the only hope is that this change of surface might somewhat hamper his progress.
And yet, even that now seems unlikely after his latest win.

Speaking to the Tennis Channel about the Italian superstar, Andy Roddick, who has been a vocal supporter of Sinner, was once again full of praise for the young man.
In fact, he even suggested that his form, and the ease with which he is brushing aside his opponents, is something unnatural.
He particularly highlighted two matches, with one being his latest clash with Daniil Medvedev, their second of 2024.
And, once again, the 22-year-old came out on top in emphatic fashion, winning 6-1, 6-2. A comprehensive scoreline.
Now, having kickstarted his campaign on clay with an equally impressive result, Roddick noted: ‘He’s just smothering people right now.
‘I mean the scorelines we’re seeing in his matches… it’s just not normal to beat Medvedev one and two on a hard court. It’s not normal to beat Seb Korda, who had just beat someone two and one himself first round, one and two. These are like junior scorelines right now.
‘I’m not sure what you do.’

The transition from hard courts to clay is a dramatic one, and a move that the players must really focus on easing.
After all, they are leaving behind the all-action and unrelenting speed of Indian Wells and the Australian Open, and instead trading it for a surface that slows down the ball and forces it to bounce higher.
It would be easy to assume that this might somewhat hinder Sinner’s explosive game, in which his thunderous forehand so often dominates matches.
However, with his latest win over Sebastian Korda, in which he again waltzed to a 6-1, 6-2 victory, it seems it has taken him little time to adapt.
If this young upstart can convert his fine form from these first three months of the year into this clay swing of the season, it could be curtains for the rest of the tour.
After all, only Carlos Alcaraz has been able to deal a defeat to him thus far, with Sinner having won every single other match, winning three titles too.
