Novak Djokovic is still sweating over his fitness ahead of this year’s Wimbledon which gets underway next Monday.
The third Grand Slam of the year is almost upon us and it promises to be another fascinating tournament.
Djokovic was forced to withdraw from Roland Garros at the quarter-final stage after requiring surgery on a knee problem.
With the tournament now less than a week away, he’s ramping up his fitness drive as he looks to draw level with Roger Federer on eight Wimbledon titles.
Now, Andy Roddick has spotted some signs of encouragement ahead of the latest Grand Slam starting next week.

What Andy Roddick has now said about Novak Djokovic
It would appear as though Djokovic is now going to give Wimbledon a go – at least if his latest training footage tells us anything.
Roddick has certainly noticed some signs of encouragement coming from the Djokovic camp.
In a short interview with Tennis TV, he now thinks that Djokovic will be giving Wimbledon a go this year.
Roddick said: “Well, you’re looking for signs of good news about him playing. I think him drawing attention to the injury, posting videos of him doing the rehab is a positive sign for him playing.
“Obviously when you travel to London and make the jaunt to Wimbledon, it’s not because you’re not planning on playing, right? It’s because you think you have a chance to play, so all of this is great news.
“I thought the timeline was too short, I’m a big dummy obviously I don’t operate at the same level as Novak. This is encouraging, it’s exciting for tennis, you want your GOATs in the tournament and it looks like he’s going to give it a run.”
Don’t rule Djokovic out of winning Wimbledon
It’s quite remarkable that it would appear that the Serbian legend is going to be fit to play.
His injury suffered at Roland Garros was so severe that it required surgery and Wimbledon was a real doubt.
Now, he’s on the cusp of playing at the tournament once again and he has to be considered as one of the contenders.
Djokovic is arguably the greatest ever on the grass – even ahead of Roger Federer – and he will be desperate to claim an eighth and possibly a ninth title.
It won’t be easy for Djokovic at this year’s Wimbledon.
Carlos Alcaraz beat him in last year’s final, whilst Jannik Sinner is now the world number one and will fancy his chances too.
Still, as Roddick mentions, Djokovic is one of the greatest players of all time and he simply cannot be ruled out if he makes it to Wimbledon.
