Coco Gauff crashed out of the Olympics earlier today but she will still look back on this year’s event with some fondness.
The one-time US Open winner came into the tournament as the world’s number two player and might have been some people’s pick to win the gold medal.
Instead, she lost a controversial clash with Donna Vekic to head out of the competition with nothing to show for her efforts.
Her wait for an Olympic gold medal goes on but at 20-years-old, there will be more time for Gauff to claim that elusive medal.
Andy Roddick is still a huge fan despite her early exit here. He’s been discussing why he gets embarrassed every time he sees the youngster these days.

What Andy Roddick has said about Coco Gauff
It’s still been an Olympics to remember for the young American.
She became the youngest-ever flag sportsperson to be a flag bearer for America at the Paris Olympics.
Speaking on that decision made by her fellow American peers, Roddick admits that looking at Gauff makes him feel somewhat embarrassed.
He said on his Served podcast: “You don’t get those honours if you are missing a bunch of notes publicly. She is a grown-up.
“I am embarrassed by the 20-year-old version of myself whenever I’m around her. Honestly. She is phenomenal. She is intelligent, talented, and confident. But all with a sense of humour too.
“She’s just great. This is well deserved. The thing that would mean the most to me if I was Coco is the fact that fellow athletes from your country had a say in it.
Gauff will come again at US Open after Olympics exit
It’s a short turnaround for the players really and the next major gets underway in just a few weeks.
Gauff will be the defending champion at the US Open this year and that in itself provides her with a challenge.
Brad Gilbert is currently in the corner of Gauff and he will be doing whatever he can to help her over this crushing defeat to Vekic.
It was heartbreaking to see her so upset with the umpire during her latest defeat at Roland Garros but there is still lots to look back on.
Being the youngest flag bearer in history is not to be sniffed at and Roddick’s words are certain to be similar to other former professionals.
Gauff is an inspirational athlete and from a female point of view, she’s going to be the poster girl for many years to come in professional tennis.
