Andy Roddick has raved about world number one Iga Swiatek ahead of Indian Wells getting underway.

The former USA star has been speaking on the Served with Andy Roddick podcast.

So, what has Roddick said about Swiatek ahead of the latest tournament on the calendar? Let’s take a closer look…

Andy Roddick raves about Iga Swiatek

The Polish player is very much the one to beat the moment on the WTA tour and Roddick is a very big fan.

Swiatek has a bye in the first round of Indian Wells but could face a tricky route through the draw.

The Polish performer will meet either Danielle Collins or a qualifier and could face Linda Noskova in round three.

Swiatek is a four-time Grand Slam winner and she will want to hit form before defending her French Open title in a few months.

Roddick is a huge fan of one aspect of her repertoire of shots and he’s praised on her on his latest show.

He told the Served with Andy Roddick Podcast: “‘Iga Swiatek when she has time on the forehand side and can’t get buried to that forehand side with pace… it’s tough to go flat with this court so it’s tough to get through to her forehand, and when she has time on the forehand it’s the best in the world, defensively on the forehand maybe not. This surface should be good for her.”

Swiatek will hope to maintain world ranking

At the moment the 22-year-old is very much the player to beat and she sits top of the pile.

It was Noskova who ended Swiatek’s attempts to win the Australian Open in January, beating her in the third round.

As a result, it could be a mouthwatering third round clash at Indian Wells if the players end up meeting again.

Roddick is clearly a huge fan of the player and he believes her forehand is to die for.

Swiatek will be eying more major titles and at 22-years-old, it’s quite scary to think how many the likeable player could end up with.
