Andy Roddick has once again found himself in the media, this time discussing Iga Swiatek and Carlos Alcaraz after their respective successes at Indian Wells.

Both cruised to their titles in California, facing little pushback in what marked inspiring and near-unstoppable runs to more silverware.

They mark two of the most exciting and prodigious talents in all of tennis, at just 20 and 22 years old respectively.

Well, Roddick has now sought to hone in on one of them as the outstanding candidate to mimic that success in Miami.

What Andy Roddick said about Iga Swiatek

Speaking to Tennis.com, the former world number one was asked about the upcoming Miami Open and what he expected.

Particularly pushed as to who is more likely to complete the Sunshine Double out of Alcaraz and Swiatek, Roddick noted: ‘Probably Iga at this point, she has just been more bankable across the course of her career.

‘As good as we all know how good Iga is her career at this point is almost undersold right… four Grand Slams, eight Masters 1000.

‘She’s approaching like the rare era of Henin, Sharapova, Lindsay Davenport, Kim Clijsters, she is like right there and she’s also 22 years old. She’s a bad woman man, she can play.’

Iga Świątek already has a legendary legacy

As Roddick states, what Swiatek has already achieved at such a young age is phenomenal, and what’s most frightening is she is only going to get better.

Having proven her ability to come through the toughest of matches on the biggest of stages, she boasts a maturity way beyond her years.

Blending that with an unrelenting physicality and a truly monstrous forehand, and all the ingredients are there to break records throughout her career.

Sharapova finished her career having won five Grand Slam titles, twice at the French Open and one of the other three.

Clijsters won just four Grand Slam titles, whilst Justine Henin and Davenport both won seven and three majors respectively too.

Swiatek, with her whole career in front of her, is just a few more triumphs away from eclipsing them all already in this regard.

And with Roland-Garros now on the horizon, her favoured Slam of them all, this could come far sooner than anticipated as Roddick is predicting. People really need to start putting more respect on her name, as she could go down as one of the greats when she does hang up the racquet.
