Novak Djokovic has started his 2025 season strongly, with the Serbian into the second round of the Brisbane International.
Djokovic spoke to Andy Murray before the match, with the Scot set to coach the 24-time Grand Slam champion at the Australian Open.
The former is also involved in doubles at the Brisbane International, with Djokovic thanking Nick Kyrgios after their successful start.
Djokovic now takes on Gael Monfils in the second round of the singles event in Brisbane, which comes just before the Australian Open.
He boasts a record 10 titles in Melbourne, but failed to clinch any Grand Slam success in the 2024 season.

What Andy Roddick said to Novak Djokovic in the US Open locker room
An Olympic gold medal did, however, go the way of the Serbian, with Djokovic beating Carlos Alcaraz on the Paris clay.
That success this summer has left former US Open champion Andy Roddick impressed, with the American saying on Served with Andy Roddick: “I think we say ‘he turns it up when it matters’ and ‘the will to win’. Everyone wants to win.

“It’s harder to do that, a lot of factors. He willed himself to that gold medal. Physically, mentally, emotionally and by the way, beating who was at that moment the current best player in the world who had just come off of two majors.
“It was one of the most impressive victories. I told him this, I saw him in the locker room at the US Open, I said of all your victories when you are in full flight, that’s one thing, struggling physically, mentally, the lead in, the whole thing, I said maybe the most impressive tournament I have ever seen from you.
“When you are talking to someone who has won dozens and dozens of majors, it’s quite a statement but I fully feel it.”
Andy Roddick questions if Novak Djokovic can compete in 2025 Grand Slams
Djokovic did, of course, come very close to a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam in 2024, but he lost the Wimbledon final to Carlos Alcaraz.
It was a repeat scenario of the 2023 final at the All England Club, with those finals coming immediately after Djokovic had won four successive Wimbledon titles.
Elsewhere in 2024, the veteran reached the semi-finals and quarter-finals of the Australian Open and the French Open respectively, before a disappointing third round exit at the US Open.
On the back of that season, Roddick has now questioned what lies ahead for the 37-year-old in terms of the 2025 Grand Slams.
“In 2025, we are almost at the who cares because he has done what he has done,” he said. “Is he going to be able to tone down the reps, play fewer tournaments and still compete for majors? We will see.
“It didn’t really work this year in the majors, it did work at the Olympics. Pairing with Andy Murray will be endlessly entertaining. It will give us something to talk about.
“And I don’t say who cares as in nobody cares because everyone cares about Novak Djokovic and his tennis, I just mean in terms of his legacy being set in stone. Whatever he does from this moment forward does not affect that legacy except if it’s positive.”
