Vote now!
During the latest episode of ‘Served with Andy Roddick‘, the 2003 US Open champion was asked if he believes Daniil Medvedev is deserving of a Hall of Fame spot.
Andy Roddick says he would vote Daniil Medvedev into the Hall of Fame right now
“Hall of Fame is a lock for Meddy?” he said.
“Yeah, I mean, based on precedent of who has gotten in.
“He’s been number one in the world, he’s won the US Open, the volume stats are a joke, the total career match wins are crazy.

- 51 top-10 wins
- 433-183 career win/loss record

“He did it in the almost transitional era between Fed, Rafa, Novak, and the new avengers.
“For context, I think Jim Courier won around 20-something, low 20s, it’s probably more than [Pat] Rafter, definitely more than [Marat] Safin, probably more than [Juan Carlos] Ferrero, he’s running up the title count.
“I mean, [Lleyton] Hewitt won 30… we’re right around each other, [Michael] Chang won 30-something…

“Is he ever going to be the week in week out force like [Carlos] Alcaraz and [Jannik] Sinner? No. But no doubt, hall of famer,” said Roddick.
“The guy cannot stand clay, he hates it, the guy won f— Rome on clay.

“And wet, it was gross that week.
“Absolutely 100%. I vote now, in, you’ve got one!”
Medvedev did his Hall of Fame chances no harm by winning the title in Dubai last time out…
‘My favorite statistic is no more’ – Andy Roddick reacts to Daniil Medvedev’s win in Dubai
“My favorite statistic in all of tennis is no more,” said Roddick.
“He had won 22 titles in 22 different cities. This is the first time he had ever won a tournament again, in the same city.

“Gets a walkover from Tallon Griekspoor.”
Medvedev won the Dubai Tennis Championships without playing a point in the final as his opponent, Tallon Griekspoor, withdrew.
Roddick was impressed with the level Medvedev showed in the Middle East.
“I’ll tell you this, though. Prime Meddy, and I say Prime, just meaning when he was playing the best he ever did, probably like three or four years ago, I actually think he won the US Open, and then that next year, he was playing great. I remember watching him in that Canada/Cincinnati run where guys weren’t really winning games,” he said.
“His scorelines this week…
“The last two years of Meddy have been like winning 6-4 in the fifth, a lot of drama, not only because of his personality, and the fact that he likes to create it sometimes, which I think is entertaining, some people won’t think that, and they’ll let us know.
What will Daniil Medvedev’s ranking be at the end of the 2026 season?
Could Medvedev make a return to the top five?
“6-1, 6-3 first round against [Juncheng] Shang, 6-2, 6-3 against Stan the man [Stan Wawrinka], 6-2, 6-1, against [Jenson] Brooksby, and 6-4, 6-2, against an in-form FAA [Felix Auger-Aliassime], first time in a while that he’s just [delivered] beat downs.
“And then obviously, in the most Meddy way ever to break the streak, gets a walkover from Griekspoor.
“I thought he played great, start to finish.
“Something we haven’t seen a ton from him these last two years.”
Medvedev has already won two titles this year, a feat only matched by the world number one, Alcaraz.
- Brisbane International (ATP 250)
- Dubai Tennis Championships (ATP 500)
Winning an ATP 250 and an ATP 500, Medvedev will now set his sights on winning a Masters 1000 at Indian Wells.
The Russian is a two-time finalist in California, but has yet to lift the trophy.
Perhaps this will be his year…
Medvedev will play either Alejandro Tabilo or Rafael Jodar in the second round later this week.
