Andy Roddick previewed Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner’s blockbuster French Open semi-final.
The pair are set to write another chapter in their burgeoning rivalry when they play for the ninth time and a first at the clay court Grand Slam.
Both came into the tournament with question marks surrounding their fitness, but they put those fears to rest with some impressive performances throughout the event.
Now the pair, both with Grand Slam titles under their belt, are looking to triumph at Roland Garros for the first time but in order to keep their hopes alive, they must go through one another.
Who does Andy Roddick think will win the Carlos Alcaraz vs Jannik Sinner French Open semi-final?
Both Sinner and Alcaraz have dropped just one set on the way to the semi-finals of the 2024 French Open.
The Spaniard has reached the last four in Paris for the second successive year, while Sinner has progressed to this stage of the tournament for the first time.
While it is tough to predict the winner of a match between two evenly-matched players, Roddick gave it his best shot.
“I’m going to stick with my pick and I think it’s just purely out of ego because it would be cool if I called him at the beginning and he won!,” he said on his Served Podcast.
“But if anything the Moutet situation in the first set where he was playing a bunch of drop shots and playing this weird brand of tennis, where Jannik can’t throw punches because he’s constantly moving, guess who else can do that? Alcaraz!
“Except he can punch you in the mouth too. I am going to take Sinner. Zero faith in it, I don’t have any confidence in it.”

What did Carlos Alcaraz say about facing Jannik Sinner in the French semi-finals?
Alcaraz levelled his head to head rivalry with Sinner at four wins apiece after handing the Italian his first loss of the season at Indian Wells.
The pair push each to their limit and leave the tennis world with their jaw-dropping rallies and supreme athletic ability.
After beating Stefanos Tsitsipas to set up his latest match with Sinner, Alcaraz explained what makes the 22-year-old such a difficult player to face.
“Well, you have to run like it is a marathon, you know, side-to-side. I think he holds nothing back. Everything he does, he does it perfectly,” he told reporters.
“The way that he hits the ball is unbelievable. The way he moves, it’s really, really well. He pushes you to the limit in every ball, in every point. I think it is the hardest thing to face Jannik.
“At the same time I love that. I love these kinds of matches. I love this kind of challenge, you know, to have a really difficult battle against him. The previous matches that we’ve played I think it was like that, and I love that.”
