After all, it is largely expected to be his last year on tour, as retirement rumours intensify.

Roddick sought to predict when he might call time on his stunning career whilst also previewing the rest of his year…

What Andy Roddick said about Andy Murray

Speaking on the Served with Andy Roddick podcast, in which he once again combs over the latest tennis news, unsurprisingly it fell on the future of Murray.

The Scotsman is the hot topic, as the latest legendary figure that the media is expecting to retire.

As such, many are clamouring to get that juicy piece of information from him regarding that topic, completely disregarding his feelings in the process.

Roddick has weighed in on the topic, noting: ’It was stimulated by Murray saying that he will probably play through the summer, vague enough to give him some leniency, feels pretty written in stone that he will be done and not play next year, and I don’t think…

‘My personal opinion is that I don’t think he’ll play much past Wimbledon but I will be wrong many times, I hope I’m right a little bit more, who knows.’

The more Andy Murray the better

Whether his physicality has diminished or not, few can deny that Murray puts bums on seats.

He is a legendary figure of the sport, and remains as such even if his form has faltered over the last few months. A few bad matches will do little to tarnish his reputation, which stems decades worth of silverware and stunning clashes.

Even in his twilight years, in which he cannot quite maintain the lung-busting lengthy rallies of old, he retains that dogged attitude and the dry lovable charm that has endeared him to so many.

He will retire when he feels comfortable walking away from the sport that has given him everything, but the hope is that this is not anytime soon.

A few more months of Murray magic would always be appreciated, even if it comes with a little bit of pain in watching him fall to unfamiliar defeat.

After all, his has been a career where the heartache has always been mixed with the heroic jubilation. It would be uncharacteristic if his career ended any other way.
