Andy Roddick thinks Iga Swiatek will have plenty of Grand Slam success away from the French Open following her Australian Open exit.

The World number two is just second to Venus Williams on the list of active players with the most majors to their name with five.

Four of those championships have come on the hallowed clay at the French Open, and she has won the last three editions of the tournament.

Under her new coach Wim Fissette, Swiatek is striving for more success at the other Grand Slams, and Andy Roddick thinks that will come to fruition.

How many Grand Slams does Andy Roddick think Iga Swiatek can win away from the French Open?

Iga Swiatek has shown she has what it takes to Grand Slams off clay when she beat Ons Jabeur to capture the 2022 US Open title.

However, the 23-year-old has not made the final of a major excluding the French Open since that triumph in New York.

She came closest to reaching another non-clay Grand Slam final in Thursday’s Australian Open semi-final, when Swiatek narrowly lost to Madison Keys in a three-set thriller.

Following that match, Roddick thinks it is only a matter of time before Swiatek more Grand Slam from the Parisian clay courts.

“I don’t want to hear your chirping about clay vs hard vs anything else,” he said. “Iga is going to win a handful of Grand Slams on surfaces that aren’t clay. She just will.

“She is just 23. Oh and by the way while she is trying to figure that out she is going to win like five more French Opens. So save it. Everyone is better on one surface, doesn’t mean the Grand Slams count any less.

“She is going to win nine French Opens and three or four other majors. Where does that leave her on the all time count? Save it.”

What is Iga Swiatek’s Grand Slam record away from the French Open?

Swiatek has lost just two matches in her career at the French Open, and won 35, giving her a win percentage of 95%.

But her record away from her most successful Grand Slam is still impressive, but not quite to the same level.

Swiatek reached her second Australian Open semi-final on Thursday, but she fell to her seventh defeat at the tournament. Along with 22 wins, this gives Swiatek a win percentage of 76% at Melbourne Park.

The Pole’s least successful major is Wimbledon, where she has to go beyond the quarter-finals. She has won 69% of her matches at SW19, giving her 11 wins and five defeats.

Swiatek has gone past the quarter-finals just once at the US Open, which was the year she claimed the title.

She has 20 wins and five defeats at Flushing Meadows, giving her a win percentage of 80%. Swiatek will hope to build on these numbers throughout the 2025 season.
