The Williams Sisters are probably the most successful siblings in sporting history in terms of the number of titles the pair have won over the years.

Venus and Serena spent years dominating female tennis and have a wealth of silverware between them.

Both players have hung up their rackets now but remain iconic in the world of tennis such was the impact they had on tennis and females playing sport in general.

Venus won 14 Grand Slam titles during her career, with Serena eclipsing her younger sister to claim 23 major prizes.

It was quite astonishing what both players managed to do and their legacies remain intact in the world of professional tennis.

Andy Roddick shares what he absolutely loves about Venus Williams

Having dominated the game, it can’t have been easy for Venus to watch her sister burst onto the scene and essentially blow her out of the water in terms of titles.

Venus can look back on a brilliant career and she goes down as one of the greatest ever still, despite not getting close to Serena’s haul of major titles.

Talk on the Tennis Channel Live podcast turned towards the Williams sisters this week and Roddick has waxed lyrical about the older of the two sisters.

He said: “I was with Venus probably a month ago doing something. She is just the coolest, so down to earth. To have the amount of class she has had when her little sister has gone on to do what she has done, and not missing a beat the entire time. Venus is just the coolest.”

Venus hasn’t actually called time on tennis career just yet

Officially, the older of the two Williams sisters hasn’t retired from tennis and currently has a world ranking of 514 in the world.

Quite clearly, Williams won’t be playing in any more big tournaments, however, and isn’t playing on the tour right now.

The 44-year-old hasn’t played in a Grand Slam event since the US Open in 2023 when she was beaten in round one by Belgian player Alison Van Uytvanck.

It’s quite interesting to hear Roddick heap some praise on Venus for her personality and it would have been very easy for her to show an element of jealousy.

The player has only ever wanted the best for her sister during her career and could be often found watching on from the box when she wasn’t in action herself.

The Williams sisters will never be breached in terms of sibling success and their legacy in female tennis makes them an inspiration to many women trying to make the grade nowadays.
