Jannik Sinner has continued his stunning run at the US Open by reaching the quarterfinals of this year’s event.
Sinner faces Lorenzo Musetti in his next US Open match, having just thrashed Alexander Bublik 6-1, 6-1, 6-1 in round four.
Defending champion Sinner felt he played ‘great tennis’ against Bublik, who he defeated in only one hour and 21 minutes.
Arthur Ashe Stadium has played host to all four of his matches so far, during which the ATP number one has dropped just one set.
It was also the venue for his 2024 US Open final against home favourite Taylor Fritz, which Sinner won 6-3, 6-4, 7-5.

Andy Roddick thinks there is a ‘weird’ narrative forming around US Open quarterfinalist Jannik Sinner
Bublik defeated Sinner at Halle earlier in the year, but was unable to repeat such heroics in their latest match.
Sharing his verdict on that clash, former world number one Andy Roddick said on his Served podcast: “I just watched Sinner beat Bublik 1, 1 and 1.
“Bublik has a bomb. He is a 4, 4 and 4 and that’s a beating if you are playing Bublik because of his weaponry.”
And when asked if he thinks players take notice of such displays in the locker room, Roddick replied: “Yes. And I’m not one of those that everyone says ‘statement win’.
“But 1, 1 and 1 against a guy who can hold serve a lot. And the other thing about Sinner and Carlos [Alcaraz] now is that Sinner had a match where he won a tough four-setter in a Grand Slam, against someone who is also seeded in Shapo (Denis Shapovalov), and we are like that was really rough.
“He has created such a weird narrative to where if someone wins a set against him we’re like that’s tough, what is going on. It’s such a weird thing.”
How has Jannik Sinner reached the US Open quarterfinal?
Sinner has remarkably lost just four matches all season, with three of those coming against world number two Alcaraz.
The Spaniard defeated the Italian in the finals of Roland Garros, Rome and Cincinnati, while Bublik beat Sinner in the Halle Open round of 16.
Other than that, he’s been unstoppable, particularly on hard courts, having not lost at the US Open or Australian Open since 2023.
Vit Kopriva, Alexei Popyrin, Shapovalov and now Bublik have all fallen victim to his ruthless nature on the surface in New York this time around.
| Round | Opponent | Score |
| Round one | Vit Kopriva | 6-1, 6-1, 6-2 |
| Round two | Alexei Popyrin | 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 |
| Round three | Denis Shapovalov (27) | 5-7, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 |
| Round of 16 | Alexander Bublik (23) | 6-1, 6-1, 6-1 |
His fellow Italian Musetti, the 10th seed, will be the latest man looking to end the world number one’s dominance.
But perhaps unsurprisingly history is on the side of Sinner, who has won both of their matches on the ATP Tour so far.
