Novak Djokovic’s 2025 season hasn’t quite gone to plan as the Serb continues to struggle on the ATP Tour.
24-time Major champion Djokovic has endured several tough defeats over recent months, having begun the year strongly in Melbourne.
Djokovic reached the Australian Open semi-finals, retiring with an injury against Alexander Zverev but struggled upon his return to action.

Losing his opening matches at the Qatar Open and Indian Wells tournaments, Djokovic slumped to three consecutive defeats for the first time since 2018.
The 37-year-old will look to return to form at this week’s Miami Open, an event he won in 2007, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2016.
Two tennis legends have shared their thoughts on Djokovic’s ATP Tour struggles, as they predict whether he can turn things around.
Andy Roddick and Kim Clijsters both back Novak Djokovic to turn his form around
Speaking on the Served with Andy Roddick podcast, Andy Roddick and Kim Clijsters discussed Djokovic’s recent form.
“I am not worried about Novak [Djokovic] at all,” said Roddick.
“I think you give him a quick surface and he’s fine.
“A couple of first-round losses in a row, with the tear in Australia, I didn’t think we would honestly see him until Monte-Carlo anyway. I was stunned.
“Are you worried at all? Or when we get into the Grand Slams is this a different thing?”

“No, I think once he gets a couple of matches, we have seen him do it so well where he can maybe not play his best tennis but win those matches,” replied Clijsters.
“I think once he gets a few matches under his belt he can raise his level.”
Djokovic lost to Botic van de Zandschulp in Indian Wells, suffering his second straight early exit at an ATP tournament.
Looking ahead to the Miami Open, Roddick believes Djokovic could take advantage of the shorter format to return to winning ways.
“It’s also really easy, I felt way better about my chances against Rafa [Nadal], Roger [Federer], and Novak [Djokovic] in two out of three [sets],” he said.
“You are rolling the dice there, three out of five, it’s a different animal.”
The Serb will no doubt hope to score some big wins in Miami to put an end to his current losing streak.

Novak Djokovic’s route to the 2025 Miami Open title
Djokovic will begin his Miami Open campaign against the winner of Rinky Hijikata and Hamad Medjedovic in the second round, but could quickly face some tough opposition from the world’s top players.
- R2 – Rinky Hijikata/Hamad Medjedovic
- R3 – Alex Michelsen/Qualifier
- R4 – Lorenzo Musetti/Felix Auger-Aliassime
- QF – Daniil Medvedev/Stefanos Tsitsipas
- SF – Carlos Alcaraz/Casper Ruud
- F – Alexander Zverev/Taylor Fritz
A fourth-round clash against Felix Auger-Aliassime could prove tricky for Djokovic, considering the Canadian won their most recent encounter at the Laver Cup in 2022.
Auger-Aliassime dominated Djokovic in straight sets on Day three, handing Team World a 10-8 lead on their way to a maiden title.
Top ten stars Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas could await in the quarter-finals, before a potential rematch against Carlos Alcaraz in the last four, whom he beat in Melbourne earlier this year.
A title for Djokovic in Florida would see him lift his 100th ATP Tour trophy, 77 more than any other active player in men’s tennis.
