Andy Roddick says Roger Federer did something back in 2009 that left him fuming.
The American enjoyed a successful career, but it would have been greater had the Swiss Maestro not been around.
Andy Roddick played Roger Federer on 24 occasions during their careers, and the 42-year-old claimed victory on just three occasions.
One of his last defeats to Federer came in the 2009 Wimbledon final, which was one of the most heartbreaking defeats of Roddick’s career.

Why was Andy Roddick angry with Roger Federer in 2009?
Roddick had been denied the Wimbledon title by Federer on two occasions in 2004 and 2005.
But in 2009, the former World number one returned to the final at the All-England club, where he faced his arch-nemesis Federer once again.
In a match for the ages, Federer claimed a five-set victory, 16-14 in the decider, to win his sixth Wimbledon title. He served 50 aces compared to 27 from Roddick, which proved key in that final.
Later that season Federer played the US Open final against Juan Martin del Potro, and this time he lost in five sets as the Argentine was his lone major.

Federer’s serving statistics were not as impressive this time around, as he hit just 14 aces over five sets and served 11 double faults, two of which came late in the decider, which left Roddick fuming.
On his ‘Served’ podcast, Roddick opened up on how Federer made him feel while he watched that final in New York, compared to how Federer played against him at Wimbledon two months prior.
“I will tell you where I am yelling at the TV, probably the only time I have ever been angry and Roger and it was completely irrational,” Roddick recalled.
“It was the 2009 US Open final when they were in the fifth set and all of a sudden he throws in back to back doubles for Del Potro to break.
“I wanted to crawl through the TV and struggle with him in the post mortem of that Wimbledon match where none of that was happening.
“I had a moment of fleeting petulance where I was real mad! I was very upset! I threw something at the TV and I broke the TV.”

When did Andy Roddick beat Roger Federer?
Roddick claimed just three victories against Federer during his career.
The first came in the semi-finals of the 2003 Miami Open. After winning just one set over the course of their first four meetings, Roddick claimed a 6-4 3-6 7-6(3) win to reach the final.
Roddick had to wait another five years for his next victory over Federer, and this came at the 2008 Canadian Open.
Four years later, Roddick overcame Federer for the final time in what was their last match against one another.
Roddick stunned Federer 7-6(4) 1-6 6-4 at the 2012 Miami Open to bring an end to a one-sided rivalry that featured plenty of memorable matches and moments.
