Andy Murray gets his coaching adventure up and running this week as he looks to help Novak Djokovic secure Australian Open success.

Djokovic wants one more Australian Open title, which would take the 37-year-old to 100 ATP Tour titles and a record 25 Grand Slam titles.

Former ATP number one Djokovic is the seventh seed at the Australian Open, but his 10 titles are more than any other player.

Murray has been surprised by Djokovic in the early stages of their partnership, which may only be limited to the Australian Open.

The Serbian is one of the most experienced players on tour as the event gets underway, but he did fail to win a Grand Slam in 2024.

Andy Murray labels Novak Djokovic the ‘best tennis player of all time’

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz shared the honours last time out, although Djokovic did beat the Spaniard to win Olympic gold in Paris.

And such a complete career from the Serbian has really impressed his new coach Murray ahead of his coaching venture with his former rival.

“Novak has in the last few years cemented himself as the best tennis player of all time, certainly of his generation, with the records that he’s achieved,” he said, as quoted by Sky Sports.

“These next couple of years, I think he maybe already has a legitimate claim to be the best athlete of all time.

“But I think, if he can go out as a 38, 39-year-old and win more Slams and beat Alcaraz and Sinner in big matches, he’s got a claim to be the best athlete of all time, and I think that’s exciting for me and his team to be part of that.”

Novak Djokovic will relish Andy Murray praise ahead of the Australian Open

Djokovic may have contrasting thoughts about such high praise right before another Australian Open journey starts.

On one hand, the Serbian will be grateful that Murray thinks so highly of him and believes his story is not over yet.

At the same time, however, the veteran may not want such pressure piled on him ahead of a potentially record-breaking Grand Slam.

But it is the former scenario that should play out, with Djokovic having already passed every high-pressure task asked of him in tennis.

Sinner and Alcaraz now have the unenviable task of stopping the 24-time Grand Slam champion from securing further glory, starting in Melbourne this month.

Fellow legends Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer join the Serbian in the greatest-of-all-time discussion, with Murray just falling short thanks to the success of the Big Three.

But current ATP stars Alcaraz and Sinner will have ambitions to one day join the discussion, with a combined six Grand Slam titles already accumulated despite their brief careers.
