Andy Murray can’t do wrong for doing right in the eyes of the media and one question from Laura Robson has now left him very annoyed.
The three-time Grand Slam winner was put in front of the microphone after a brilliant win over Matteo Berrettini at the Miami Open.
Murray has ended a pretty turbulent start to 2024 and he’s hinted that this year will be his final one on the tour.
After this one, he was once again quizzed, this time after he showed some fake laughter antics on court – with Robson in the firing line for her questions.
Why Laura Robson annoyed Andy Murray after win over Matteo Berrettini
This was a match that Murray thoroughly deserved to win. He came through in three sets 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 and will now face Tomas-Martin Etcheverry who beat him at the Australian Open.
Berrettini needed medical treatment during the game after almost fainting as he was about to serve in the second set. Still, Murray remained professional and got over the line.
Murray seemed relaxed during the game and afterwards, he was quizzed on one incident where he appeared to show some fake laughter on the court. Robson was keen to ask him what that was all about.

He told Sky Sports Tennis: “You were saying I needed to be happier on the court in the interview beforehand. So if I’m laughing that’s not okay, if I’m shouting that’s not okay, if I’m flat, like I was in Australia, that’s not okay, so it’s very hard for me to get the balance right.
“I’m very different on the tennis court. I’m not a robot, I’m a bit odd, a bit strange and I perform better when I’m more like that.”
A relaxed Murray is a dangerous player
Robson probably didn’t mean any malice with her line of questioning but Murray does appear to be getting a little bit bored with his media responsibilities.
Everything he does on the court these days is scrutinised considerably more and frankly, he just wants to be allowed to play tennis.
Murray looked relaxed against Berrettini and that is a dangerous proposition for opposing players as he comes to the end of his career.
The experienced three-time major winner is right not to be placing too much emphasis on results at this stage of his career and a relaxed Murray could pick up more results.
Etcheverry will provide another stern test for Murray when the pair meet but he will be targeting a revenge mission following his defeat to the Argentine in Melbourne back in January.
