Andy Murray has just done something that only five players in tennis history have achieved before

Andy Murray might be coming towards the end of his tennis career but he’s still determined to cement his place among the game’s elite.

Today, Murray achieved another milestone that sees him sit alongside just five other players in the history of the game.

Andy Murray hits milestone during Dubai Tennis Championships

Well, it would appear as though Murray is still determined to keep playing in an attempt to find some sort of form.

Today, he reached the last 16 of the Dubai Tennis Championships by overcoming a three-set match with Denis Shapovalov.

Murray won the match 4-6, 7-6, 6-3 winning 75% of his points on his first serve.

After the game, it emerged courtesy of Olly Tennis that it was the 500th match that Murray had won on a hard court.

He is only the sixth player in the history of the game to reach such a milestone.

Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Andre Agassi, Jimmy Connors and Rafa Nadal are the other five players.

This will give the Great Britain legend some confidence going into the rest of the tournament.

However, given that the match was a three-set affair it will be interesting to see how much Murray has had taken out of him.

At 36 – and with a hip made of meta – the days of Murray adding to his three Grand Slam titles look to be over.

However, he won’t see it like that and as a natural-born winner, he will be keen to win more ATP titles.

This milestone being fetched up highlights what a remarkable career Murray has enjoyed.

Hopefully he can prolong his playing days a little while longer before he does eventually finish.
