Andy Murray has finally said his farewell to tennis, with his astonishing career coming to end after his Olympics defeat.

Murray and Dan Evans laughed as their Olympics run neared its end, with the duo losing to Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul.

The American third seeds ran out 6-2, 6-4 winners in the 2024 Olympics men’s doubles quarter-finals in Paris.

Fritz was sad to be the one to beat Murray in his final match, but the American put emotions aside to clinch the win.

He and Paul did, however, go on to lose to Australian duo John Peers and Matthew Ebden in the semi-finals.

Andy Murray shares commentary plans after retiring at the Olympics

It remains to be seen what is up next for Murray after his illustrious career, with the Scot having won two Olympic gold medals.

He has, however, discussed his plans for the near future, with the 37-year-old ready to spend much more time with his family.

“I don’t think commentary is something I would like to do to be honest,” Murray told talkSPORT. “Coaching would be more my sort of thing, I think, I don’t know whether that’s something I will definitely do but I would consider doing that in the future but not immediately.

“I want to spend time at home with my family and children and not be travelling around the world as much.

“It’s become harder and harder the last few years as the kids have got a bit older. The tennis tour takes you away from them for three or four weeks at a time and it’s not easy.

“I want to spend a bit of time with them for three or four weeks at a time and it’s not easy. I want to spend time at home with them and when I have had a bit of time to rest and relax we will see what is next.”
