Carlos Alcaraz was praised by Andre Agassi after they played doubles together at the US Open.

The New York Grand Slam tends to hold a series of exhibition matches and other fan events before the tournament commences.

The fans inside Arthur Ashe Stadium were very excited to see multiple generations come together to play a fun light hearted game before the tournament begins on Monday.

Andre Agassi and Carlos Alcaraz, who have a combined 12 Grand Slam singles titles between them, teamed up to face John McEnroe and Novak Djokovic, and it was an exciting occasion.

What did Andre Agassi say about playing with Carlos Alcaraz at the US Open?

Alcaraz beamed with pride throughout his time playing alongside Agassi against McEnroe and Djokovic.

The quartet played an impressive array of shots and thoroughly entertained the thousands who came to watch the action unfold. They played a match tiebreak up to 10 points, which McEnroe and Djokovic claimed 10-8..

Post match Alcaraz and Agassi were interviewed by Rennae Stubbs, the former US Open champion made a surprising admission.

“I was so nervous when they told me I had to play with Carlos I was like ‘oh my God’,” Agassi said. “I was such a huge fan and in our house I mean both me and Stephanie watch when he’s on and we smile.

“It’s a great feeling to be out here.  And how about everything that Carlos has accomplished, you’re like 12 right? Is the game in great hands or what?”

Alcaraz and Agassi have three US Open championship wins between them. The 54-year-old has captured the final Grand Slam of the year on two occasions, with the first coming in 1994.

Agassi reached the final where he defeated Germany’s Michael Stich 6-1, 7-6(5), 7-5 to become the first unseeded player in the Open Era to win the US Open.

His second and final triumph at Flushing Meadows came in 1999. After beating Todd Martin in a five-set final to claim victory, Agassi returned to World number one and ended Pete Sampras’ record streak of six year-end Number one finishes. The first of Alcaraz’s four Grand Slam titles came at the US Open in 2022.

After defeating Jannik Sinner and Frances Tiafoe in successive matches five-set to reach the final, the Spaniard outlasted Casper Ruud on four sets to join tennis’ elite club of Grand Slam winners. Alcaraz is aiming for a second US Open title in 2024.
