Ons Jabeur knows what it takes to become a top WTA player, having reached three Grand Slam finals.

Jabeur recently had an injury scare, after retiring from her Miami Open match against Jasmine Paolini and limping off court.

However, it appears that her injury was not as bad as first thought, with Jabeur scheduled to return to court in the near future.

While Jabeur has been with her coach for five years, a player she has previously praised has changed hers after a year.

Peyton Stearns parts ways with her coach after a year together

Following their recent match at the Dubai Tennis Championships, Jabeur was full of praise for Peyton Stearns, who beat her in straight sets.

Stearns is a rising American WTA star and has been coached by Tom Hill since April 2024.

Despite finding some good positive results in their time working together, Hill has taken to social media to confirm that he has ended his partnership with Stearns, but wished the 23-year-old well for the future.

“After a great 12 months together, I’ve made the decision to end my coaching partnership with Peyton,” Hill said on Instagram. “I’m incredibly proud of everything we achieved together: her first WTA title, career-high rankings in both singles and doubles, and her first top 10 win.

I”’m very grateful to have been a part of her journey and to have seen her grow both on and off the court. Thank you, Peyton, for the hard work, trust, and all the memories.

“You’re not just an amazing player, but a truly wonderful person whom I’m lucky to call a friend. Wishing you nothing but the best moving forward. A great future awaits you!”

Has Peyton Stearns improved in the last 12 months?

Hill has previously helped Maria Sakkari and Danielle Collins rise up the rankings, with the British coach helping Stearns do the same.

Stearns was the world number 87 when they began their partnership in April 2024, with Hill’s influence quickly starting to show.

Just weeks after they started working together Stearns won her first WTA title at the tournament in Rabat.

Hill also helped Stearns reach her first WTA 1000 quarter-final after beating the likes of Madison Keys and Victoria Azarenka at the Canadian Open.

As a result of these results, Stearns was able to reach a career-high ranking of world number 43.

Stearns will play her first tournament since splitting from Hill at the Madrid Open.
