Jessica Pegula has announced she will not play at the Roland Garros due to injury.
The American has not played since the Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers in mid April, which was her first and will now be only clay court tournament this spring.
The World Number five has been out of action for over a month but she is not yet ready to return to competition.
Therefore, her quest for a first Grand Slam title is now on hold as she will be unable to influence proceedings in Paris when the French Open commences on Sunday.
Jessica Pegula not yet ready to return to action
The American is gutted to not be part of the French Open in 2024, as she posted an Instagram update that her fans will not want to see.
While she has been recovering well, Pegula still needs some time and is targeting the grass court season for her return.
“Hi guys – unfortunately pulling out of @rolandgarros this year,” the 30-year-old posted. “I’m just about back to practicing normal (haven’t had any issues for weeks) but played it super safe with recovery & return to play.
“If I had another 5-7 days I would have been there 100%. So I will definitely be back for a full grass season and the rest of the summer and grinding out the rest of the year. Gotta get that match count up.”

When was Jessica Pegula’s last match?
After Pegula reached the Miami Open quarter-finals, she switched to the green clay at the Charleston Open.
Three of her four matches went to three sets and it was Daria Kasatkina who outlasted her in the semi-finals on April 6.
Her last matches came at the Billie Jean Cup a week after her exploits in Charleston, where she won her two matches to help Team USA defeat Belgium.
Should she return on the grass, Pegula will aim to build towards Wimbledon she will try to progress past the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam for the first time.
