Amanda Anisimova earned redemption over Iga Swiatek after her bruising defeat at Wimbledon.

The American roared into the semifinal of the US Open with a straight-sets defeat over Swiatek to end her chances of winning another Grand Slam title.

Anisimova was ecstatic after beating Swiatek, and after losing 6,0, 6-0 in the Wimbledon final, this feels like a big win for the American mentally.

Next up, it’s Naomi Osaka for Anisimova, and that match will be one that is eagerly anticipated by the American supporters.

Osaka has already praised Anisimova previously, and it would appear that there is some mutual respect between the two players.

Amanda Anisimova makes Naomi Osaka claim

This semifinal will definitely be an intriguing match, given that both players are playing great at this tournament.

Anisimova has raved about Osaka after her win over Swiatek and it would appear that she’s noticed a change in the Japanese player in recent months.

She said in her press conference: “She’s won four Grand Slams. She obviously knows the game very well and is very successful, and she’s a really strong hitter.

“She plays really well on the hard courts. We know that. And I feel like she’s really found her groove. She’s put in a lot of work this past year. I’ve observed it and I’ve seen it.

“I feel like she’s really found her momentum here. She looks like she’s enjoying it out there. She’s always been a top player and one of the best.”

Although Anisimova got a little bit of luck on match point, with the ball striking the net before landing in, this was a quality showing from Anisimova.

Anisimova showed no signs of a hangover from the Wimbledon crushing and took the game to Swiatek from the early stages of the match.

Women’s tennis is super competitive at the moment to the point where the world number one, Aryna Sabalenka, hasn’t actually won a major yet this year.

With Anisimova playing like this, she will have Sabalenka in her sights for the final and she will now start to dream of a maiden Grand Slam title of her own.
